Ethanac Road Widening
Project Summary
City of Perris c/o Tri-Lake Consultants (2018-2019)
The City of Perris Ethanac Road Widening project consisted of the widening of Ethanac Road from Goetz Road to Green Valley
Parkway, a distance of approximately 1.6 miles. The road was widened to the north, with the new pavement consisting of 0.55 ft. of
asphalt concrete (AC) over 1.45 ft. of Class 2 aggregate base. The existing pavement was rehabilitated with a 0.12-ft grind and
overlay. Other improvements that required testing included approximately 8,600 feet of new curb and gutter, 1,900 feet of new
sidewalk, and approximately 800 feet of RCP storm drain.
IFE Role
IFE was retained by the City to perform field compaction testing and laboratory
materials testing on an on-call basis under the direction of a representative of
the City. Site visits and consultation were provided by a registered
geotechnical engineer as necessary. Our scope of service included testing for
curb/gutter, ADA access ramp, sidewalk subgrade, roadway subgrade and
aggregate base, asphalt concrete paving, RCP storm drain backfill, and trench
backfill for waterline and irrigation line. Laboratory services included testing for
soil, aggregate base and asphalt concrete. Written test results and field reports
were prepared and provided to the City inspector daily, while laboratory test
reports and a final compaction report were prepared and submitted to the City
via e-mail and mail.
