Temecula Valley RWRF 23-MGD Expansion
Project Summary
Eastern Municipal Water District/Vali Cooper & Associates, Inc. (2016-2022)
Modifications to the existing EMWD TVRWRF in Temecula, California to
increase the treatment capacity from 18 million gallons per day to 23 million
gallons per day. Specific site improvements included:
- Headworks Expansion
- Primary Clarifiers
- Secondary Clarifiers
- Chlorine Contact Basin
- Stormwater Channel Upgrade
- Blower Building
- Aeration Basin
- Tertiary Filters
- WAS Thickening Chamber
- Airline Replacement
IFE Role
IFE performed the design-level geotechnical investigations for the proposed treatment plant improvements. The primary issues
requiring mitigation were related to undocumented fill, and expansive soil and corrosive soil. IFE provided soils and materials testing
services during project construction. Our services include:
- Geologic approval of excavation bottoms in bedrock formation
- Compaction testing of equalization basin embankment fill, liner subgrade, Class 2 permeable base, pipe bedding and pipe trench backfill
- Sieve analysis, sand equivalent and maximum density tests of trench backfill and imported pipe bedding
- Concrete cylinder compression tests
