Wildomar MDP Lateral C, Stage 3
Project Summary
Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (2020-2021)
The purpose of this project is to alleviate flood potential within the City of
Wildomar. For this project the District plans to construct an incised detention
basin on the southeast corner of the intersection of Bundy Canyon Road and
Monte Vista Drive in the City of Wildomar. The basin is located on District owned
parcels and occupies approximately 15 acres. The basin will attenuate flows that
would otherwise flow directly downstream across I-15. The project has the
following components:
- Detention Basin
- Basin Outlet Storm Drain
- Low Flow Storm Drain
- EVMWD Sewer
- Basin Inlet Channel and Intake Structure
- 54-inch Storm Drain Relocation
- Storm Drain Extension
- Retaining Walls
IFE Role
IFE performed the design-level geotechnical investigation for the proposed basin. The IFE investigation included 22 subsurface
exploration borings, laboratory testing, infiltration testing, site specific seismic response spectra, liquefaction, seepage, and slope
stability analysis, seismic refraction survey and soil corrosivity evaluation. The primary geotechnical issues that will require mitigation
appear to be loose alluvial soil within the area of the proposed stilling basin and transition structure. Shoring will likely be necessary for
excavation and foundation construction in this area.
